FluView- ILI & SARI Surveillance Report for Week 42, 2019

The acute respiratory infection (ARI) cases increased across the country in week-42, however, it is below ARI median of previous three years (Figure 1). The Flu positivity rate has decreased over the week (Figure 2). Influenza B/Victoria was most predominant strain circulating and mostly affected age group was between 5-14 years. Influenza activity remained high, the positivity trend is above alert threshold with the Flu B/Victoria as a most predominant strain. The laboratory confirmed Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) associated hospitalization due to influenza were mostly in 15-29 years age group.FluView_week_39_2019
