Since May, 2021, Enteric and Invasive Disease Laboratory (EIDL) as the Coordinating Center (CC) for National External Quality Assessment Scheme (NEQAS) has organized bi-annual external quality assessment (EQA) proficiency testing exercises for bacterial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing (ABST) with support from the Fleming fund project. Having achieved a great result in the NEQAS pilot study in May 2021, NEQAC-CC initiated the first phase of the EQA exercise in November 2021 with four laboratories participating in the scheme including National Center for Animal Health.

The purpose of this PT exercises is to determine the correct identification of the bacterial strain and to determine the accuracy of ABST results reported by the participating laboratories and to allow a comparison of results between the laboratories. This report presents an analysis of participants’ results for the first round of the NEQAS PT. |
