Workshop on Influenza-like Illness (ILI) Surveillance for untrained Health Professionals from 11 Sentinel Hospitals and 2 Non-sentinel Hospitals

The Royal Centers for Disease Control (RCDC) has conducted a three-day training/workshop on Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) surveillance from January 15–17, 2025, in Phuntsholing. The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of healthcare professionals to detect, report, and manage ILI cases as part of the national influenza surveillance program. The workshop brought together clinicians, laboratorians, and other hospital paramedic health workers. This multidisciplinary team was essential to ensure a comprehensive approach to ILI surveillance, from case detection to laboratory diagnostics and data management.

Outcome:

The workshop successfully equipped participants with updated knowledge and practical skills for ILI surveillance. It emphasized the critical role of accurate case detection and timely reporting in mitigating the burden of influenza and other respiratory illnesses. The training strengthened the capacity of healthcare workers to contribute to the national influenza surveillance program, ensuring better preparedness for seasonal flu and potential outbreaks.
